Why We Need Woman-Centric Methods

To create sustainable change for ourselves, for other women, and for future generations of women, we need to make woman-centric methods mainstream.

  • Women’s social conditioning is different than men’s social conditioning

  • Women’s experience of the world is different than men’s experience of the world

  • Women’s brains are structurally differently than men’s brains

  • Women’s bodies function differently than men’s bodies

  • Women’s cyclical rhythms are different than men’s cyclical rhythms

  • Women’s spiritual experiences are different than men’s spiritual experiences

  • Women’s traumatic experiences are different than men’s traumatic experiences

And most importantly, women have a completely different experience of safety.

It makes no sense for us to subscribe to male-patterned concepts and patriarchal paradigms, yet this is where women have been trapped for centuries, and I think it’s safe to say most of us are fed up with it.

Women have been misinformed, misdiagnosed, and misunderstood for centuries. They’ve been marginalized, and had their physical and mental health concerns dismissed.

In today’s turbulent times, the need for woman-centric ways in greater than ever.

The Key Thing That Catalyzes Transformation

A well-regulated nervous system and healthy cortisol levels are the foundation of good health physically AND mentally, but for women, this presents a problem.

Healthy nervous system function is based in safety and connection, and for women this is a complex subject.

The nervous system is the quintessential mind-body connection, and cortisol is the chief stress hormone.

The habit of hypervigilance, among other things, creates chronically elevated cortisol levels.

The mind and body think they are always in danger, so they stay in a state of preparedness at all times.

Outwardly, this results in behavior patterns such as people-pleasing, micromanaging, and trying to control the outcome of everything.

Inwardly, this results in belief patterns such as not belonging, being unlovable, and being unworthy.

The problem is, these behavior and belief patterns, in turn, create a constant state of internal stress, constantly increasing cortisol production.

It’s a chronic negative-feedback loop.

Well-substantiated studies show that chronically elevated cortisol plays a key role in:

  • Fatigue

  • Joint pain

  • Muscle pain and weakness

  • Type 2 diabetes

  • Heart attack

  • Stroke

  • Digestive problems

  • Brain fog

  • Infertility

  • Menstrual irregularities

  • Neuropathy

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

  • Insulin resistance

  • Memory loss

  • Depression

  • Eczema

  • Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

  • Osteoporosis

  • Kidney stones/gallstones

  • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies

  • Atrial fibrillation

  • Hyperlipidemia

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Hair loss

  • Insomnia

  • Weight management

  • Headaches

  • Acne

  • Cancer

  • Excessive sweating

  • Frequent urination

Among other things, cortisol levels directly impact inflammation, immune system function, sex hormone production, thyroid function, and energy production (methylation).

Who is Katt?

Much of my childhood was an exercise in trying to stay out of the way and not piss anybody off.

As a result, I developed a habit of hypervigilance that took me decades to untangle.

By the time I was in my mid-twenties I was suffering from chronic pain, chronic fatigue, chronic digestive issues, chronic anxiety and depression, and a whole host of other symptoms.

Back then, I had no idea these things were all related.

In my early thirties I had a breakdown of sorts and I finally sought medical and mental health treatment. For a couple of years, I went from test to test and specialist to specialist and prescription to prescription…

…and everything got exponentially worse.

I was taking multiple prescriptions, several of them to counter the side effects of other prescriptions. And I had developed a dangerous reliance on a combination of anti-anxiety meds and opioid pain meds—which, in those days, they handed out like candy.

The first therapist I saw utilized talk therapy and the Socratic method, which did nothing to help me change my thought patterns. Retrospectively, he did more harm than good because these methods only increased my anxiety.

When I was 35, I called a halt to it all. I weaned off all of my prescriptions, stopped seeing the therapist, and quit having tests and seeing specialists.

I began seeking my own path.

It took me many years of researching and experimenting with a wide variety of holistic and spiritual methods, but I found my way out of that hell, becoming healthy, happy, and whole for the first time in my life…

…and I’ve sustained that for about 12 years now.

I resolved my chronic pain.

I resolved my chronic fatigue.

I resolved my chronic digestive issues.

I resolved my chronic anxiety and depression.

Since 2014, I’ve been on a mission to help other women with their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

As a former medical transcription company owner turned Certified Nutrition & Hormone Health Coach, I have more than 25 years of experience in the health and wellness industry.

I’m credentialed in integrative nutrition, hormone health, nutrigenetics, culinary genomics, and a variety of emotional healing techniques. I’ve studied women’s psychology at the college level.

I’m also well-educated in energy healing, astrology, and Human Design.

The most important thing, though, is that I’ve been there…and I’ve come out the other side.

My goal with my coaching work is:

  1. To provide a wake-up call to women about true the state of our nervous system health and the critical need for change.

  2. To let women know they aren’t alone in their experiences.

  3. To highlight the need for women-centric health and wellness information.

  4. To provide vetted information about nervous system health filtered through the lens of women’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual experiences.

  5. To gather women who are committed to their own—and other women’s—health and wellness.
