(#4) The Sacred Journey of Unbecoming: Remembering Your True Self & Reclaiming the Power Within
Part 4—The Path of Release: Setting Down What Isn’t Yours
“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.” — Paulo Coelho
If the previous part of this series illuminated the weight that women carry, this installment turns toward the possibilities of letting go. Release is both an art and a practice—a sacred unbinding that restores clarity, vitality, and connection to essence. Yet it is not a linear process, nor a single act. It is a layered journey, occurring simultaneously in body, heart, mind, and energy.
Somatic Release: Listening to the Body
The body is the primary vessel of accumulated burdens. Muscles, tissues, and the nervous system carry tension and trauma long before the mind is aware. To release physically, we must first attend to sensation.
Breathwork, movement, shaking, or somatic practices such as gentle yoga or Qi Gong allow the nervous system to downshift from chronic hyperarousal. Even small gestures—a deep exhale, a long stretch, or a moment of stillness—can create significant openings. These are not trivial; they are the language of the body telling you that you do not have to hold everything alone.
Tremors, sighs, and other spontaneous bodily releases are signals that the nervous system is recalibrating. Over time, repeated attention to somatic release reduces chronic tension, improves sleep, restores hormonal balance, and allows energy to circulate freely through the body.
Emotional Release: Allowing the Heart to Speak
Emotionally, release begins with permission. Anger, grief, fear, and even joy that has been suppressed need acknowledgment. Journaling, guided visualization, therapy, or safe relational spaces provide channels for expression. Each emotion is a thread to be untangled rather than a flaw to be fixed.
This is where self-compassion meets courage. Many women have been conditioned to silence feelings in order to preserve harmony or maintain appearances. Emotional release is a reclaiming: a recognition that feelings are information, not judgment, and that the heart’s expression is sacred.

Energetic Release: Clearing Subtle Imprints
The energetic body mirrors the physical and emotional layers. Each unprocessed expectation, unexpressed emotion, or inherited pattern manifests as density or stagnation in the auric field. Practices such as energy clearing, visualization, ritual, or breath-based meditation help to dissolve these subtle cords.
Energetic release is particularly powerful because it works at the level of imprint, not just symptoms. Imagine a web of threads connecting you to outdated expectations and ancestral patterns. Conscious energetic work allows you to sever cords with intention and love, returning energy that is not yours to its source and reclaiming space for your essence to expand.
Spiritual Release: Trusting the Essence Within
At the deepest level, release is spiritual. It is the act of trusting that beneath the layers of conditioning, your essence has always remained intact. Unbecoming is not about erasure or becoming empty; it is about spaciousness. It is about saying yes to self, yes to intuition, yes to the quiet pulse of essence guiding your life.
Spiritual release often unfolds as ritual, prayer, meditation, or simple conscious intention. Its purpose is not dogma, but alignment: to allow your choices, actions, and presence to flow from essence rather than expectation.
An Invitation
To engage with this phase of the journey, consider:
Noticing where your body is holding tension and exploring gentle ways to release it.
Giving voice to emotions long silenced, in private or safe spaces.
Visualizing energetic cords being returned, or calling in light and spaciousness to replace density.
Intentionally cultivating trust that your inner guidance is reliable and sufficient.
Release is not a single act—it is a rhythm. Sometimes it unfolds gently, like a soft tide; other times, it may feel intense, like a storm clearing the sky. Each wave is part of the sacred work of unbecoming, restoring space for vitality, clarity, and truth.
As this stage unfolds, we prepare to witness what becomes possible: the luminous life that arises when essence leads. In the final part of this series, we explore what it means to live fully in the freedom and radiance of essence.
